Jack Maggiore, PhD
Team Leader Background
Dr. Jack Maggiore serves as the President of Healthy Life Laboratories, and is a medical technologist, certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. Dr. Maggiore received his Bachelor of Science degree with Highest Honors in Medical Laboratory Sciences, his Masters of Science degree in Clinical Chemistry and his Doctorate in Pathology from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). Much of his research at UIC focused on the role of homocysteine in the prevention and pathogenesis of ischemic stroke. Concurrent to his pursuit for advanced degrees, Dr. Maggiore began his laboratory career at the UIC Medical Center, and served the Hospital Laboratory as a Medical Technologist, Supervisor, and Manager for 13 years. Dr. Maggiore concurrently held an academic faculty position at UIC, where he lectured to medical technology students and medical residents in pathology and laboratory medicine. Dr. Maggiore holds several patents for his product developments and innovative enhancements, and has served as a clinical consultant to a number of diagnostic companies and governmental agencies, including the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. His expertise includes clinical trials and regulatory affairs, having cleared six products through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Maggiore is active in the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, where he currently serves as Chair of the Editorial Board for Clinical Laboratory News and serves on the Chicago Section Executive Committee. He is the author of more than thirty-five publications and textbook chapters, and has presented his research findings at international scientific meetings. Dr. Maggiore’s current clinical research interests include diabetes detection, disease management, and development of novel biomarkers for malignant and chronic diseases. Dr. Maggiore’s mission is to work with health care professionals to empower consumers to take a more active role in their health maintenance.

Ron Schefdore, DMD
Team Leader Background
Dr. Ronald L. Schefdore is recognized as an advocate and educator of oral health. He is the founder and president of Healthy Heart Dentistry®, an educational program for dental professionals based in Chicago, Illinois and chairman of Pharmaden Nutraceuticals, evidence based periodontal supplements. The theme of his seminars, “The wise dental professional should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings, and learn how by his/her own thought to derive better health from the patients’ oral condition”

Dr. Schefdore is the first U.S. dentist to introduce to dentistry the idea of blood screening dental patients to improve their oral and overall health. He is the first dentist to obtain a CLIA certificate allowing moderately complex blood lab tests to be taken in his dental office. His contributions in this area have been recognized by major dental publications such as Dentistry Today, Dental Economics, RDH, Dental Town, Dental Product Shopper, Dental Tribune, Doctors of Dentistry, and others.
